SDK License Request Form FAQs

How do I find my Host Name?

Windows:

Right-click on "My Computer", and then click on "Properties".
Select the "Network Identification" tab. The Host Name is the "Full computer name".

Linux:

Use the hostname command at a shell prompt.

How do I find my Host ID?

The Host ID is essentially the physical Ethernet address for the machine (not the IP address).

Windows:

Type "ipconfig /all" from a DOS prompt. It's the Physical Address "00-0c-03-08-f3-c5" for example.

Linux:

Caution: Do not use the Linux "hostid" command because it could return the wrong information.

Type "ifconfig -a" from a shell prompt
Look for the HWaddr keyword on the primary interface (normally eth0)

Example:
# ifconfig -a
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:0D:56:C3:E6:5E
inet addr:192.1.1.2 Bcast:192.1.1.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
So you use "00:0D:56:C3:E6:5E" as host ID.
