The market for multi-channel audio applications has seen a number of changes over the past few years. For many years, DVD players, Home Theater In a Box and DTV tuners represented the bulk of the devices in this application sector, supporting standards such as Dolby Digital 5.1.  Newer applications such as IPTV and Auto Infotainment are now emerging and are quickly growing in number.  While the silicon devices required to support these new applications share similar features with existing solutions, system level, feature set and end-cost differences often necessitate new designs.  From an audio perspective, the market requirement is to be able to support a number of popular and emerging multi-channel algorithms efficiently as well as the post-processing that is often required.

ZSP^® Processor
With design wins with market leaders such as Broadcom and Yamaha, the ZSP processor is quickly becoming an industry-standard in terms of audio processing.  For decode only systems requiring 5.1 to 7.1 channel capabilities, a ZSP core from the G1 family is often the best choice, providing an efficient solution in a compact silicon area footprint.  For more advanced applications requiring simultaneous 5.1 to 7.1 encode and decode for example, the ZSP G2 family of DSP cores may be the best choice.  In either case, ZSP's software compatibility across its DSP offerings enables our customers to leverage their software investment even if they decide to utilize a ZSP core in subsequent product lines.

The ZSP core is available as synthesizable RTL and can be targeted at any foundry.  Along with the processor core, VeriSilicon offers a complete set of software development tools as well as hardware development tools  to support early system prototyping

Customer's can also work with VeriSilicon on a full service specification-to-silicon basis where the ZSP core can be made available as part of a bundle with other VeriSilicon IP and design services.
